FC Bascome Withdraws From USL 2021 Season
The United Soccer League [USL] and FC Bascome Bermuda announced today that the club has chosen to withdraw from the 2021 USL League Two season.
“Together, both the league and club have determined that due to international travel considerations it would be difficult for the club to accommodate a return to play in Bermuda during the 2021 season, and the league looks forward to welcoming FC Bascome in 2022,”
“FC Bascome Bermuda are a tremendous community organization and we fully support their decision,” said USL League Two Vice President Joel Nash. “We remain confident that when the time is right for the club to make its on-field debut in League Two, it will immediately show what a unique and valuable asset it can be for Bermudian soccer.”
FC Bascome Bermuda’s President and Director of Football Andrew Bascome explains; “Though we are disappointed to have to defer our entry into USL League Two, and all the great opportunities it will provide Bermuda’s football community, our number one priority is the safety, health and wellbeing of everyone.
“We will spend this coming year building an even better and more prepared presence and to that end we plan to participate in USL Academy Cup events in 2021.”
