Minister: ‘Think Of Bermuda Day Reimagined’
Having the Bermuda Day events happen in the manner in which we’re used to is “unrealistic” Minister of Youth, Culture and Sport Dr Ernest Peets said, adding that we should think about the whole festivity of Bermuda Day in a “reimagined way.”
The 2020 Bermuda Day parade and half marathon was cancelled last year due to the pandemic, and the race organisers have announced plans for a ‘Limited Edition’ event this year, with a capped number of runners allowed to take part.
When asked during a recent BNV interview if we will have a Bermuda Day parade this year, Minister Peets said to “think of Bermuda Day reimagined.”
“Think about the Bermuda Day, the whole festivity of it, in a reimagined way. Having that particular day come off in the manner in which we’re used to, it’s unrealistic,” the Minister told Bernews.
“But we’re certainly in a better place today than we were a few weeks, and a few months ago, so right now the team is talking about Bermuda Day, and the word I can use to describe, potentially what that will look like, will be reimagined.”
