Governor Lalgie Welcomes Faith Leaders
Governor Rena Lalgie welcomed faith leaders to Government House today [March 22] “in order to share their insights on the strength and diversity of faith communities in Bermuda.”
Government House said, “This morning Governor Lalgie was delighted to welcome the Emir Saleem Talbot [Imam of the Bermuda Islamic Cultural Centre] and Bishop Wes Spiewak [Catholic Bishop of Hamilton] to Government House.
“They spoke about the Bermuda Committee for Human Fraternity consisting of a number of religious leaders on the island.
“Later this afternoon the Governor then welcomed members of the Bahá’í Community of Bermuda to Government House. Those in attendance were the Chairman of the Bahá’í Delegation, Blythe Walker, the Vice Chair Tanisha Edwards and Shyama Ezekiel-Fagundo.”
The Governor said, “With the unexpectedly delightful weather today, I had a fitting opportunity to learn about the Bahá’í teachings and how Naw‑Rúz [the Bahá’í New Year] was celebrated over the weekend within the Covid regulations.”
