Netball: BNA Cancels 2020/21 Winter League
Citing the “recent spike in positive Covid-19 cases on island,” the Bermuda Netball Association has cancelled the 2020/21 Winter League.
Yesterday, the Government confirmed 18 new positive Covid-19 cases — one imported, 15 classified as local transmission with known contact, and two under investigation – bringing the island’s current tally of active cases to 48.
A spokesperson said, “It is with sincere regret that we have made the decision to cancel the 2020/21 Winter League. We have tried tirelessly to obtain approval from the Bermuda Government to return to play, but the safety of our players is paramount.
“The recent spike in positive Covid-19 cases on island will likely delay our continued efforts to return to sport. Therefore, it wouldn’t be fair to keep our members in limbo any longer.
“We hope that next season will show more promise. Until then, stay safe.”
