Finnigan & St. Mary’s Defeat Midwestern State
For the first time since the 2016-17 season, James Finnigan and his St. Mary’s Men’s tennis team earned an NCAA Division II South Central Regional victory as they defeated Midwestern State by a score of 4-1.
The win marks the first time in program history St. Mary’s has defeated Midwestern State.
Jeremiah Sanchez and Finnigan put St Mary’s in a great spot, winning no. 1 doubles spot, 6-3. Midwestern State won at the no. 2 position, putting the pressure on the three’s. Nicolas Llosa and Leon Hein did not waiver as the duo won 6-2 to put St. Mary’s out in front 1-0.
Finnigan gave St Mary’s a 2-0 lead with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 5 singles spot defeating Jean Muniz.
