Sun Life is donating $20,000 to Bermudian charities, with both The Eliza DoLittle Society and the Women’s Resource Center set to receive $10,000 each.

A spokesperson said, “Sun Life announced today a donation of US$ 20,000 to Bermudian charities to recognize the rapid increase in demand for their services at the time of the coronavirus pandemic.

“The Eliza DoLittle Society and the Women’s Resource Center will each receive a donation of US$ 10,000. The Eliza DoLittle Society provides weekly food bank services that include a variety of fresh, frozen and non-perishable items to households with food insecurities.

“The Women’s Resource Center offers mental health counselling support services to Bermudians. The funds will be used to support people who require help due to circumstances related to COVID-19 pandemic.”

“Sun Life always supports the local communities in the countries where we live and work”, said Paul Courtney, Chief Commercial Officer, Sun Life International Hubs.

“In Bermuda, charities see a steady increase in the number of people who need their support. COVID-related stress triggered increased demand for counselling support and food pantry services. In this situation, we feel the need to further support the local charities who help Bermudians in these challenging times.”

“Sun Life has a long history of supporting local charities in Bermuda. Since the start of the pandemic, we donated over $50,000 to Bermudian charities in support of their COVID-19 relief efforts.”
