Update 9.49pm: A police spokesperson said, “Around 3:20pm today [Wednesday, 9th June] police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported serious collision at the junction of Somerset Road and Sound View Road in Sandys parish.

“It now appears that a 21-year-old Sandys parish man was riding a motorcycle south on Somerset Road and a 75-year-old Sandys parish man was driving a car out of Sound View Road – attempting to make a right turn on to Somerset Road – when the collision occurred.

“Despite the best efforts of Roads Policing Unit officers assisting with traffic diversions while the collision scene was processed, delays were experienced by motorists travelling to and from the Somerset area, until inquiries by the Traffic Collision Investigator and Forensic Support Unit were completed.

“The assistance of members of the public that have already come forward as witnesses to this collision is appreciated and any other witnesses are now encouraged to contact Constable Ryan Swan on the main police telephone number 295-0011 or via e-mail rswan@bps.bm.”
