WA Aware Of Video, Following Police Advice

December 13, 2021

Warwick Academy confirmed they “are aware of a disturbing and violent video being circulated” which involves two students at a residence, and said they will follow all advice given by the police, are offering counselling services where needed, and noted that until it has been “fully investigated and resolved by the police” the student will not be attending school.

The police previously appealed to people to please not pass the video — which  has sparked outrage on social media – around with a BPS spokesperson saying, “There is a video clip depicting an incident involving two minors, which is being circulated on social media.

“The video clip has been brought to the attention of the Bermuda Police Service. We ask that should you receive the video clip, you do not share it or forward it on and instead delete from your phone or other electronic devices.”

In an email sent out to parents and others, the Warwick Academy Principal said, “I need to inform you that we are aware of a disturbing and violent video being circulated on social media.

“The video took place inside a private residence on Saturday and involved two students who attend WA [one of whom recorded the event] and a student attending another school. Importantly, the Police were informed that evening and are investigating it.

“As a school we make it very clear that we do not condone violence and will follow all advice given to us by the Bermuda Police Service. In addition, our counselling services have been activated to provide support where needed.

“Until this has been fully investigated and resolved by the Police, the WA student depicted in the video will not be attending school.

“Many thanks to all concerned parents and members of the community who have reached out to us.”
