TCS: Collaborative Approach To End Violence
“If we are to stem the tide of the violence in our community, it will require a collaborative approach including all invested stakeholders,” the Transitional Community Services [TCS] organisation said.
This follows after a week of gun violence which has sadly resulted in the deaths of two young men, a 24-year-old man was fatally shot in Warwick, and 18-year-old Laje Franklin was fatally shot in the east end, with last night’s shooting marking the sixth confirmed shooting in the last 30 days.
A spokesperson said, “We are saddened to hear of the recent murders in our community. We think of the family and friends of the victims. Our community needs healing and solutions, and we cannot rely solely on the government for these solutions.
“If we are to stem the tide of the violence in our community, it will require a collaborative approach including all invested stakeholders.
“As a community we cannot continue the cycle of merely being alarmed in the moment. We must have a sense of urgency that compels us to action as these acts of violence threaten the quality of life for everyone in our community.
“At TCS we continue to work with young adult men 18-34 and encourage any young man who is seeking support to reach out to us.”
According to their website, TCS aims to “meet the growing needs of disenfranchised young adult males 18-34. Our program is designed to provide individualized support for young adult men through advocacy, care management, counselling, and employability skill building.” For more information, please visit their website.
