Review: Carnival’s ‘Glow Bermuda’ Event
[Written by Mikaela Ian Pearman]
Hundreds of beautiful people dressed head to toe in white, incredible DJs, awesome bars and great food. This was Glow Bermuda!
On Sunday night, I headed to my first actual fete for Carnival in Bermuda weekend and Glow was an excellent first stop. Being arguably one of the best events over the weekend, my expectations were high. And honestly, they were met.
Let me tell you how it went.
Once I arrived and checked in at Queen Elizabeth Park [the venue for Glow], I saw a lot of people walking around with silver Grey Goose goblets. I went immediately found the specialty vodka bar, ordered a drink and happily grabbed my beautiful cup.
Next up was food. There were multiple food stations around the park serving sharwma, paella and quinoa salad, roti with rice, curry chickpeas and chicken tikka masala, corn soup and specialty gingerbread. Once I had some food in me, it was time to get the party started.
Unfortunately, the rain decided to make an appearance at the same time I wanted to dance. Thankfully, it didn’t last too long.
Just before 9pm, I made my way to the front of the stage to enjoy the end of DJ Chubb’s set. But the party started when Patrick the Hypeman and DJ Jester took the stage. Patrick is easily the best at what he does and alongside Jester’s jugglin, it was amazing.
The pair started with a little Bob Marley, sweet reggae, some dancehall and moved into soca. They had the crowd dancing and singing along the whole time. It truly was a magical set.
I just have to say – there are a lot of MCs/Hypeman and Patrick truly is one of the best. The way he works the stage and gets the crowd turnt is an amazing talent.
Tony X followed with Lord Hype and in an interesting choice, started out with Whitney Houston and some old school R&B. It was completely unexpected and yet so good!
Of course, they segued into soca and a bit of dancehall to keep the party going. It was a vibe for sure.
I left not long after to head over to the other white party of the night, Pure, but not before I thanked organizer Marilyn Eve for such an incredible event. Her team does an excellent job year after year and this year’s event was top notch.
If you missed Glow this year, I highly recommend grabbing tickets as soon as they are available for next year. Better yet, snag a cabana for your crew! You will regret missing it again.

By far the best event each year for Bermuda carnival. THIS IS A PREMIUM EVENT ON PAR WITH OTHER OVERSEAS EVENTS.
LOL, no it isn’t.
My first time visiting Bermuda. Everything is so clean. My short weekend stay was fan-tab-u-lous; from soaking up the sun on the partying boat ride, to liming at a local bar, to hanging out at Snorkel park/Dockyard, were all memorable and full of laughter.
I ended my stay with one of the most Epic event, GLOW. I happened to arrive at Glow when the Premier arrived and wasn’t sure what to do with myself (lol) because I was directly behind them and was trying not to be in the videorgrapha’s way/recording…Lol. Its always a ‘good thing’ when people in political arena are in touch with the locals/local events. Marilyn Eve and her son were such gracious hosts. Making sure to greet and have conversations with as many of their guests as possible.
The variety of dishes which represented many different nationalities were deeeelicious and the display were very inviting. (Everything dish I tasted, I enjoyed however I particularly enjoyed the sushi and the corn soup was a nice surprise) There were a variety of drinks stations to choose from and The DJs, music and hype-men were off the chain. They were definitely crowd pleasers.
Marilyn definitely brought elegance and Great Vibes to Elizabeth Park like only she can do. Thanks Marilyn Eve.
I’m already looking forward to next year’s event.
