Madelyn Moore has advanced to the semi-finals of the 50 metres butterfly at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham today.
Moore finished sixth in her heat in 27.33sec and will swim again later today at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre.
Her teammate, Emma Harvey, did not qualify for the semi-finals after coming seventh in her 50 butterfly heat in 27.78.
Jack Harvey also competed this morning, finishing eighth in heat five of the 100 backstroke in 26.88.
Moore told Bernews: “I was holding my breath through the last few heats and, luckily, I just slipped in [to qualify].
“I’m super happy with that. I know I can do so much better tonight.”
Jack Harvey said he was disappointed not to execute a faster time.
“Coming to the meet, I wanted to make the semi-finals, but it didn’t happen,” he said. ”Both of my races have been a bit disappointing. Now I have to refocus on my next race on Tuesday.”
Great performance. Congratulations
