Photos, Video, 360: Clyde Best Mural & Market
The Clyde Best ‘Mural Wall introduction and Vendor Event’ was held last night [July 22] in the west end, with entertainment, vendors, speeches and more, with no shortage of ‘Somerset colours’ on display throughout the evening.
The painting on the wall along Clyde Best Lane — which was officially named after the legendary footballer back in 2014 — includes a portrait of the Bermudian icon in his West Ham United kit and various action images of him during his heyday in England as a trailblazer for Black players.
There is also a section celebrating his cricketing exploits in Cup Match, having made his debut for Somerset as a 15-year-old in 1966.
The footage in this article is from last night’s event and if you want to take a closer look at the mural itself — which was created by a team of 20 artists and also includes some contributions from talented student artists from Sandys Middle School — you can view images in this article.
