Caitlyn Bobb — one of the youngest members of Bermuda’s team — said she had no complaints after just missing out on reaching the 400 metres semi-finals at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham after placing 4th in her heat.

The 19-year-old needed to finish in the top three in her heat to automatically advance to the next round at the Alexander Stadium, however she finished in fourth place in heat four after posting a time of 53.97sec.

“I gave it all I had, so I can’t complain,” Bobb told Bernews. “This was a next-level competition, and I’m working my way up.

“I’m 19, and it’s my first Games, so I’m taking it a race at a time, meet by meet.”

Bobb admits she was disappointed with her time but has vowed to come back stronger when she returns to the elite level.

“It was a terrible time, awful, worse than the indoor season,” said Bobb, whose personal best is 51.84. “I’ve had a long season, travelled a lot, so I’m not too upset.”

Bobb, who finished 20th overall, is the daughter of Dawnette Douglas, a former sprinter, who represented Bermuda at the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992.
