Rugby Classic: Italy, Argentina & France Win
[Updated with video] The World Rugby Classic continued with a triple header at the National Sports Center which produced 74 points on the night.
Italy 35 – USA 7
In the opening match of the evening, Italy defeated USA 35 – 7.
Italy got tries from Giambattista Venditti, Mauro Paghera, Alex Brown, and Ramiro Pez, while Pez kicked 3 conversions, as well as 2 penalties, and Nicola Benetti also kicked a penalty. USA got a try from Brice Schilling, and Ross Bellachi added the conversion.
Argentina 10 – Canada 7
In the second game of the night, Argentina held off a challenge to defeat Canada 10 – 7.
Argentina got on the board first with a try from Mauro Comuzzi, with Juan Cruz Gonzalez adding the conversion making the score 7 – 0, but Canada drew level when Lawrence Ross scored a try, and Conor Hunter kicked the conversion, but the game was decided when Gonzalez kicked a penalty for Argentina to take the lead and the win.
France 10 – Classic Lions 5
In the nightcap, France came from behind to defeat the Classic Lions 10 – 5.
The Classic Lions took the lead when Ben Woods went over for a try, but the conversion was missed making the score 5 – 0, but France would get a penalty from Mathieu Amoros to make the score 5 – 3.
Amoros went over for a try for France and when Anthony Lagardere kicked the conversion it gave France the lead 10 – 5, a lead they would hold onto to claim the win.
