DeSilva-Andrade Starts Competing In Brazil
Yushae DeSilva-Andrade started competing in the Boccia World Championships in Brazil, with over 170 athletes from 41 countries taking part in the event.
DeSilva-Andrade took on the world number 1 Andreza Vitória De Oliveira from Brazil in her first round match, with the Brazilian winning by a score of 5 – 2.
“Although she lost Yushae can be very proud of her performance and to be level after 3/4 of the match with the world number 1 player was a great effort,” her coach said. “She plays Kinga Koza [world number 6] from Poland today at 2pm Rio time and will then have another group match against Katerina Curinova from the Czech Republic tomorrow. The top 2 from her pool will progress to the quarter finals.”
