The Bermuda Karting Club paid tribute to their founder Maynard “Duke” Soares at the end of race day at the Rubis Southside Raceway on Sunday.

Soares, who formed the BKC in 1976, died recently. He was aged 79.

During the “One Last Lap”, one of Soares’s sons and a nephew performed a lap of the Southside circuit.

A post on the BKC Instagram account read: “‘Duke’ Soares is a legend in the BKC world, and it was an honour to have him as our founding member, president and Hall of Fame inductee. Rest in peace, Duke!”
