Croatia win 4-2 on penalties
Brazil, the tournament favourites, have been knocked out of the World Cup in Qatar on penalties by Croatia in the quarter-finals.
Croatia, the runners-up four years ago in Russia, scored all four of their penalties, while Rodrygo and Dominik Livakovic missed penalties for Brazil.
After the game remained goalless, Neymar opened the scoring in extra time with a superb effort to equal Pele’s goalscoring record for Brazil.
Croatia fought back in the send half of extra time through Bruno Petkovic, who stroked the ball home via a slight deflection to take the game into a shootout.
Croatia will meet Argentina in the semi-finals on Tuesday.

Argentina win 4-3 on penalties
Lionel Messi’s quest to win the World Cup lives on after they defeat the Netherlands in a dramatic penalty shootout.
Argentina led 2-0 with just eight minutes remaining thanks to goals from Nahuel Molina and a Messi penalty; however, the Netherlands fought back on level terms after a stunning brace from Wout Weghorst to send the game into extra time and penalties.
Emi Martinez, the Argentina goalkeeper, emerged as his nation’s hero, saving two penalties to send the South Americans into the semi-finals.
