$1M For CCTV, $3M Equipment, $1M Works

The Ministry has set aside over $1 million for CCTV upgrades for the Police and Corrections, some $3 million for new equipment including vehicles for the Police, Corrections and Fire Service, and just over $1 million  for capital development works, including at the prisons and an East End Coast Guard Station, Minister of National Security Michael Weeks said.

The Government tweeted the graphic below, saying, “Following the reading of the 2023-2024 Budget, the Minister of National Security, the Hon. Michael Weeks, JP, MP, has shared how his Ministry will allocate the over $5 million Capital Budget.”

Minister Weeks said, “In this year’s Budget, our Ministry will allocate over $5 million under its Capital Budget. The Ministry has set aside over $1 million for CCTV upgrades for the Bermuda Police Service and Corrections.

“Some $3 million will be used to acquire new equipment, including vehicles for the Bermuda Police Service, Corrections and the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service to replace vehicles at the end of their service life.

“And just over $1 million is being provided for capital development works, including refurbishment works at the prisons and an East End Coast Guard Station.”
