Mpox Vaccine Interest Form Now Available

February 23, 2023

“The Ministry of Health is considering vaccinating individuals at higher risk of Mpox exposure,” announced Minister of Health, Kim Wilson.

“To gauge community interest, we have created an optional survey interest form. Starting today and for the next two weeks, Bermuda residents can complete the interest form for the Mpox vaccine, JYNNEOS, by visiting https://forms.gov.bm/MPoxSurvey/

A Government spokesperson said, “Vaccination is not guaranteed by filling out the interest form. However, if the Ministry decides to offer the vaccine, only a limited supply will be offered to adults with certain risk factors that increase their likelihood of becoming exposed to Mpox.

“Mpox is a disease caused by a virus that can result in a rash or lesions and is spread through close person to person contact. Anyone can get and spread Mpox. Close contact includes touching skin lesions, bodily fluids, or clothing/linens that have been in contact with an infected person. Spread can also occur during prolonged, face-to-face contact.

“In addition to vaccination, there are other ways to stay safe, for example, avoiding skin-to-skin contact with another person’s rash or lesions, and frequently washing your hands with soap and water. For more information, please visit: www.cdc.gov/poxvirus/monkeypox/vaccines/index.html.”

  1. Paid off government says:

“Anyone can get and spread monkeypox”she says. Don’t be rediculous! Just stop with the fear mongering with your false exaggerated statements! We know who gets it and spreads it. We’re not stupid!

“We know who gets it and spreads it. We’re not stupid!”

That is the same sort of prejudice that delayed research into Herpes Simplex II and HIV/AIDS.

      • question says:

I’m pretty sure I know how to avoid getting monkeypox.

      • Paid off government says:

Not prejudice, just facts. Sorry your offended from the truth. So my point is that those who are at high risk then by all means go and get jabbed. So the minister is wrong . Anyone cannot get it!

        • sandgrownan says:

That’s factually incorrect. The likelihood may be low, and the effects may be minor, hence the optionality of the vaccine for those that may be at higher risk, but anyone can catch monkeypox.

          • Fair enough says:

Low? There’s a lot of zero’s and decimals in front of that likelihood. So to generalize it is so weak. I certainly won’t bet my mortgage on catching this

            • sandgrownan says:

Don’t disagree. But, it exists and given how unhealthy Bermuda is, there’s an option for a vaccine.

I’m as sceptical of anything Min. Wilson says and does as the next person, but really this isn’t the hill on which to fight or die

        • Joe Bloggs says:

          “Not prejudice, just facts”

What? How can “We know who gets it and spreads it. We’re not stupid!” possibly be construed as “facts”? You won’t even say who you claim “gets it and spreads it”.

That is pure prejudice in your posts, not “facts”.

            Lol! WOKE

          • Smh... says:

So I suppose it’s prejudice to say more black people are likely to get heart disease??? You all are too WOKE!

            • Joe Bloggs says:

              “You all are too WOKE!”

Too woke? What does that even mean?
