Minister Weeks Applauds Walk For Peace & Unity
“Saturday’s display of peace during a walk in Paget was a powerful display of unity and strength, and it showed that the people of this community are determined to come together to create a safe and peaceful environment,” said Minister of National Security Michael Weeks in applauding the initiative that took place on 18 March.
A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of National Security was proud to participate in the event, which began with a tree-planting ceremony at Bermuda College and was attended by members of the Ministry’s Gang Violence Reduction Team.
“Participants, young and old, from all walks of life and political divides, then walked together to the Warwick Workmen’s Club in a display of synergy against community violence.”
Minister Weeks added: “I applaud everyone who worked to make this event possible, especially Glenn Fubler, who coordinated the initiative on behalf of several organisations in Paget and Warwick.
“I was also pleased to see the students who turned out to show their support and to have their voices heard. This initiative exemplifies the ingrained community collaboration needed to overcome Bermuda’s community violence problem.”
I look forward to Minister Weeks being as supportive of the upcoming PRIDE parade and participating in that too.
