‘Community Peace Walk’ To Be Held On March 11
At 4pm on Saturday, March 11th, a group will be holding a ‘Community Peace Walk’ commencing on the grounds of the Bermuda College.
A spokesperson said, “A collaboration of senior representatives of a number of organizations in the Paget/Warwick area, has come together over the past several months, in response to the challenges adversely impacting the fabric of our society. Intentionally moving out of our silos, this collaboration is focused on a proactive approach to addressing anti-social conduct and the cycle of violence, with the goal of fostering community.
“On Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 4 pm, the collaboration is staging a ‘Community Peace Walk’ which is commencing on the grounds of the Bermuda College. At that campus a Peace Tree will be presented before walkers proceed West on South Shore Road and turn right on Southcote Road and over to Ord Road. Walkers will proceed West along Ord Rd and turn right onto Cobb’s Hill, ending at the grounds of the Warwick Workmen’s Club.
“Supporters of this initiative are also invited to make a special donation for those families most impacted by the current economic crisis. Those donations may be made online to the Friends of Christ Church Warwick Trust [reference ‘Peace Walk’] – Clarien Bank Bermuda – Account No. 6000 166 404. Those funds raised will be distributed as Food Vouchers to those families identified by the primary school counsellors and trustees of community organizations.
“This collaboration includes representatives from: Bermuda College; Bright Temple AME Church; Christ Church [Warwick]; Paget F.C.; Paget Primary; Purvis Primary; PHC; Rehoboth Church of God; Warwick Academy and Warwick Workmen’s Club.
“A limited supply of light refreshment will be available at the conclusion of the Walk and limited rides will be offered to those wishing to return to the College campus. While the focus for this Saturday is on Paget/Warwick, this is an open invitation for all to join this ’Community Peace Walk’ in promoting a sense of solidarity across the entire Island.”
