Catch A Fire is bringing the heat to Bermuda on May 30, with a massive reggae concert at the CedarBridge Academy Courtyard. The night will showcase six of Bermuda’s finest homegrown voices alongside international stars Tippa Irie and Junior Cat.

Ninja Cutty

Ninja Cutty, born Sean Anthony in Mandeville, Jamaica, electrifies the stage as a Bermudian reggae and dancehall artist and is set to bring his energy to Catch A Fire on May 30.

Renowned for his high-octane performances and deep connection to the island’s vibrant sound system culture, he brings an infectious spark to every show.

At just 10 years old, Ninja Cutty made the leap to Bermuda, where his passion for music caught fire. By 17, he stormed the stage at “Bermuda Sting,” sharing the spotlight with legends like Bounty Killa, Yellowman, Cocoa Tea, and Gregory Isaacs.

From 1994 to 1995, he sharpened his deejay skills with the influential African Pride sound system, his flair earning him “Best Deejay Style” in Atlanta in 1996. Soon after, he lit up the crowd in Bermuda as the opener for Beenie Man and Sean Paul.

Ninja Cutty’s journey has set stages alight across the Caribbean and the U.S., from the legendary Reggae Sumfest in Jamaica, where he shared the lineup with Damian Marley, Snoop Dogg, and Shaggy, to unforgettable Bermuda concerts alongside Lady Saw, Tanya Stephens, and Luciano.

With a career woven into the fabric of Bermuda’s reggae-dancehall scene since the 90s, he’s celebrated for blending Jamaican roots with Bermuda’s unique musical flavour.

Since 1987, as a 13-year-old teenager, he has been making his first appearances at Bailey’s Bay Club.

Junior C – real name Carlton Welch – has been a torchbearer for the local reggae and dancehall scene, weaving stories of perseverance, love, and Island pride into his lyrics.

Bermudians seeking unity and hope found it in the soundtracks of his albums “One Life,” “Positive Vibes,” and “Reggae Ambassador.”

Community has always shaped Junior C’s journey, through which he has distinguished himself not only through music but also by uplifting the legends who preceded him and by guiding the younger generation. His voice reverberates, always beckoning elders and newcomers to sustain the reggae flame.

Junior C’s music resonates wherever Bermudians gather, as every beat celebrates sound system culture and positive messaging, championing perseverance, love, and island pride in every lyric.

Mikey Wild

Mikey Wild is a Bermudian reggae singer-songwriter and veteran of the island’s reggae scene. Born in London in 1968 and raised in Bermuda, he developed a love for reggae in the early 1980s while attending Whitney Institute.

He began performing in the late 1980s with the Nuclear Weapon Sound System alongside “Squinty,” becoming a fixture at Loyal Hill during Bermuda’s sound system heyday. Known for his clean, conscious lyrics, Mikey writes music that parents and children can enjoy together.

In 2008, he signed with U.S. label SkyRockit Records. His single “Life Story” reached No. 2 on the American Billboard charts, and he ensured it debuted in Bermuda first. Over the years, he has opened for international acts including Ziggy Marley, Shaggy, Tarrus Riley, The Wailers, and Yellowman.

Mikey has released tracks like “Revive Dem,” “Positive,” and “Alone at Last” on the White Diamonds Riddim. He remains active in Bermuda’s music community, using his platform to promote local artists and keep reggae culture alive on the island.

Arijahknow Live Wires

Arijahknow Live Wires, born Mitchelle Malik Devaughn Trott, is a Bermudian reggae artist, singer, and cultural activist known for his baritone voice and high-energy performances.

A product of post-integration Bermuda, Livewires uses his music to promote unity, peace, and African heritage. He first gained local attention with his 2015 EP “Reggae Highway”, launched during the America’s Cup and featuring a mix of roots reggae, jazz dub, and what he calls “Rebel Soca.” The title track was used to open the Jamrock Reggae Cruise for thousands of listeners.

Known for blending music with community action in 2016, Livewires staged “Gombey Warrior on the Reggae Highway” at City Hall to mark the 39th anniversary of Bermuda’s 1977 riots, and in 2018, he performed for the launch of the Caravan mobile stage, a project aimed at healing and bringing Bermudians together.

A regular in the Department of Culture’s “Creatives Live!” series, Livewires continues to perform locally and internationally, sharing songs like “Nothando” and “Gombey Warrior” while championing Bermuda’s culture and artists.

Demara

Demara Maybury burst on the scene in 2024, her voice a living breath of fresh air, marking her as one of the Island’s rising vocal talents.

Demara was crowned Bermuda Idol winner in 2024.

Since her victory, Demara has continued performing locally. In 2025, she was featured in the Lumina Festival’s “Solara Unplugged” concert at The Loren, sharing the stage with local and international acts. She also opened up for the blind singing sensation Nigy Boy in February 2026.

Known for her strong stage presence and vocal control, Maybury represents a new generation of Bermudian performers keeping the island’s live music scene.

Cush Evans

Cush Evans, born CoShaun Evans on March 3, 1993, is a dynamic singer, songwriter, and rapper celebrated for his vibrant fusion of reggae, R&B, hip hop, and soca.

From his early days performing in church at just six years old to taking local shows by storm, Cush’s passion for music has always shone bright.

By 2010, he began recording, and his energetic stage presence, versatile vocal range, and authentic lyrics made him a favorite on Bermuda’s live circuit and radio. By 2012, his sound was making waves internationally, with performances in New York, Atlanta, Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, and St. Vincent.

Cush’s musical journey is marked by standout moments: in 2017, his infectious single “Run Road” won the inaugural ‘Quest for the Best’ Soca Song Contest, earning him Caribbean-wide radio play and a $5,000 promotional package.

He electrified audiences as runner-up and Showmanship Award winner at Bermuda Idol 2018, and twice captured the spotlight as BET’s “WildnOut Wednesdays” champion.

In 2022, Cush was honored with the Premier’s Award for R&B Singer of the Year.

He’s shared the stage with legends like Mavado, Bunji Garlin, and Luciano, and is a regular highlight in the Department of Culture’s “Creatives Live!” series.
