2023/24 Netball Season Gets Underway

After back-to-back weekends of matches being rained out, the Bermuda Netball Association’s League season got underway at Bernard’s Park.

Under 11 Division

The North Village Lady Rams took on Dandy Stars in the opener, the North Village’s Best Attacker was Davi Wade, and their Best Defender & MVP was Ariah Tucker, while Olivia Darrell was voted the Best Attacker & MVP for the Dandy Stars, while the Best Defender was Ra’Maya Robinson.

The Storm and the Phoenix Sparks then took to the court. The Storm’s Best Attacker & MVP was Sariah Grant, while the Phoenix Sparks’ Best Attacker was Lyon Simons, the Best Defender was A’mariss Dyer, and the MVP was Kenzie McCrary.

Under 14 Division

The Storm Lightning defeated the Storm Thunder 31 – 6, Lightning Best Attacker Malaysia Furbert and Naomi Crofton both scored 12 goals, Ameerah Outerbridge added 6 goals, and MVP Day’asha Dill scored once, Jaylah Ible was named Best Defender. The Thunder got 2 goals from Eliyah Trott, and Journee Belboda, with Sah-Quirity Warner, and S. Grant both adding a goal each. Nala Richardson was the Best Attacker, while Amirah Trott was named the Best Defender and MVP.

Rangers defeated North Village Lady Rams 23 – 4. MVP E’Rynn Paynter led the Rangers in scoring with 18 goals, with Cindy Darrell chipping in with 5 goals, Jade Simons was the Best Attacker, while Ja’miyah Johnston was the Best Defender. The North Village Lady Rams got 2 goals from Dani Brown, and Best Attacker Jazmyn Sutton, Kiera Trott was named the Best Defender, while Kse Jennings was the MVP.

Under 17 Division

The Storm defeated the Dandy Stars 44 – 30, Jaelyn Rewan-Lambert led the Storm to victory with 30 goals, Jazya Brimmer-Peets chipped in with 11 goals, while MVP Jamir Hatherley added 3 goals, Jaiden Durrant was the Best Attacker, and Sa’Ray Beach was the Best Defender. Moriah Bridgewater scored 19 goals for the Dandy Stars, MVP & Best Attacker Sioma Rudo added 11 goals, and Te’Meira Rutherford was the Best Defender.

The Phoenix Fire defeated the North Village Lady Rams 38 – 25. Best Attacker & MVP Hailey Trott would lead the Phoenix fire with 18 goals, both Kammie Mills and Mahkaylie Smith scored 10 goals each, with Kylie Smith named the Best Defender. Akina Williams scored 15 goals for the North Village Lady Rams, who also got 5 goals apiece from Ra’eesah Robinson and Jzari Zuill-Dillas. Taliah Wade was named the Best Attacker and MVP, and Tanah Edwards was named the Best Defender.

Seniors

The Tigers defeated the Docksiders 52 – 18. MVP Jahkenya Trott would score 28 goals to lead the Tigers to victory, Jahtuere Trott added 15 goals, while Diarra Christopher scored 5 goals, and D’onnisha Gardener scored 4. Diarra Christopher was the Best Defender, and Jordyn Ming was the Best Attacker. Naomi Szmierek scored 11 goals for Docksiders, Charlie Evans added 4 goals, and Stephanie Hawkes scored 3 goals. The Best Attacker was Ciara Izuchukwu, the Best Defender was Charlotte Evans, and the MVP was Ruth Ellen.
