EcoDive To Launch Scuba Instructor Course
[Written by Stephen Wright]
Bermudian Sam Bennett, the owner of EcoDive, will launch a scuba diving instructor course on the island in May.
EcoDive, a Scuba Diving International [SDI] training and certification centre, was founded by Bennett in March last year.
Bennett told Bernews, “I’m excited to bring more professional-level courses to the local dive community and broaden the opportunities for locals to further develop their skills and knowledge.
“We are also looking to provide those seeking to be dive professionals with the experience needed to start their careers on the right foot.”
The intensive course is from May 19 to 26, with classroom, ocean, and pool sessions, during which candidates will learn how to safely conduct dive courses, and gain the skills to teach, assess, and evaluate students on all skills required to be competent divers.
Bennett, 27, said the course is for those who are already certified divemasters and hopes for four to ten participants.
“It’s for people who have taken the first step of professional training and want to take it a step further and be able to qualify people to be scuba diving instructors,” Bennett added.
“Those who are not currently a divemaster but wish to explore the opportunities can get in touch to learn the options available.
“We teach our instructors to be instructors, not just to follow a script. We give them the materials, knowledge, and skills to teach their students in the best possible way for the student.”
