Video: Erica Hawley After BF&M 10K Race Win
Erica Hawley produced a scintillating display to claim victory in the BF&M 10K Race yesterday [January 13], the second event in the Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge Series.
The professional triathlete led from start to finish, crossing the finish line in 37min 39sec to place ninth overall.
Hawley, who has represented Bermuda at the Commonwealth Games and Pan American Games, told Bernews: “The race today was really fun and pretty hard because of the wind.
“But I was really happy with my time and it was a great atmosphere out there. It’s always fun to race at home and be a part of the community in Bermuda.
“This is my last day at home before I head to Boulder, Colorado, which is where I’m based to train for triathlon. So, it’s fun to be back and be able to race here.”
Hawley enjoyed a superb 2023, including a first professional win in the Americas Triathlon Cup in Montreal, finishing third in a World Triathlon Cup race in Yeongdo, South Korea, and fourth in the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile.
She hopes to qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris this summer.
American Amy Piccolo, who came thirteenth overall, was the second female in the Butterfield Mile in 39:14, and local runner Gayle Lindsay, fifteenth overall, was the third quickest in 39:53.
