Ministry: Submit Traffic Notices In Advance

February 1, 2024 | 0 Comments

The Ministry of Public Works is “reminding all event and road race planners to submit their traffic notice requests well before their planned activities.”

A Government spokesperson said, “Recent challenges have prompted this reminder to ensure smoother processing and timely approvals.

“This advice applies to anyone who wishes to apply for permission to hold a party, celebratory event, or sporting race on public roads.

“The Ministry has observed a trend where notice requests for road races, bicycle races, and party events on public roads are submitted merely a week before the scheduled date.

“This timeframe poses significant challenges in reviewing, obtaining approval, and effectively publicising the events to ensure the safety and convenience of all road users.

“In response to this issue, the Ministry urges event organisers to submit their traffic notice requests a minimum of three weeks before the scheduled event date.

“This lead time is essential for the Ministry to review the proposals thoroughly, seek Ministerial endorsement, and promptly disseminate information to the public.

“Organisers looking to obtain permission to hold an event on public roads should E-mail Krystal Nanan-Hinkson at knhinkson@gov.bm or Carolina Orellana at caorellana@gov.bm or Tina Searle at tnsearle@gov.bm.”
