The 2024 Champion Taekwondo Tiger Clash celebrated Bermuda’s taekwondo community’s prowess while marking the dojo’s 22nd anniversary.
A spokesperson said, “The 2024 Champion Taekwondo Tiger Clash, hosted by Champion Taekwondo Dojang in collaboration with Shotocup, captivated audiences and showcased the thrilling athleticism of Bermuda’s taekwondo community. This year’s event was particularly special as it also commemorated the 22nd anniversary of Champion Taekwondo Dojang’s establishment, drawing a crowd of 267 enthusiastic spectators eager to support their loved ones.
“The tournament featured a dynamic lineup of Poomsae [forms], Kyopka [board breaking], and Kyorugi matches, delivering adrenaline-pumping action and unforgettable moments throughout the day.
“Quinton Burgess emerged as a standout performer, dominating all three of his events with finesse and precision, earning him the prestigious Outstanding Athlete Award. Anashae Pitcher and Quannae Lowe showcased their skills in the Advanced 15-17 Girls Division, engaging in intense battles across all three events, with Pitcher during their bout ultimately emerging victorious.
“Haze Boyles captivated the audience with her remarkable speed and grace, securing victory in the 14 Cadet 11-14 Intermediate Female Kyopka category. Meanwhile, newcomer Troyan Scott wowed spectators with an awe-inspiring 540 tornado kick during his board breaking demonstration.
“In a thrilling showdown, Quinn Burgess faced off against Naziyah Webb-Maynard, with Burgess clinching victory in her debut match, showcasing the talent and determination of Bermuda’s rising taekwondo stars.
“The event was also a significant milestone for the Bermuda Taekwondo Federation, reaffirming its commitment to the growth and advancement of taekwondo on the island. With the last all-taekwondo event held in 2011, the 2024 Champion Taekwondo Tiger Clash marked a triumphant return to the sport’s roots, uniting athletes, instructors, and spectators in celebration of martial arts excellence.
