Video: Jacob Madeiros Scores Penalty Winner
Bermudian footballer Jacob Madeiros scored the winning penalty for May River Varsity in a 5-4 shootout win away to Hilton Head Island High School yesterday [April 2].
The 17-year-old attacking midfielder kept his cool to convert the spot kick to help keep his side’s regional play-off hopes alive.
Madeiros, who captains his school, which is in Bluffton, South Carolina, created the 50th-minute opener for Timmy O’Gorman before the visiting side conceded a late equaliser to send the game into penalties.
May River goalkeeper Connor McClain also saved a penalty in normal time.
Madeiros, who plays for the Bermuda Under-20 national team, will look to continue his fine form when May River face James Island Charter High School next week.
