NorthStar Launches Dementia Care Guide
NorthStar introduced “The Compass Guide to Dementia Care,” a free online course to support and empower family caregivers of individuals with dementia in Bermuda.
A spokesperson said, “Navigating a diagnosis of dementia can be daunting. Caregivers often have many questions, and it can be overwhelming trying to figure out where to turn to for answers and help. We want you to know that you are not alone in this journey.
“NorthStar is pleased to launch “The Compass Guide to Dementia Care” a free online course specifically designed to empower family caregivers of people living with dementia in Bermuda. There are estimated to be as many as 3000 Bermudians living with Dementia, and 80% of Care is currently provided by family members who report high levels of caregiver stress and burnout. Caring for a loved one experiencing cognitive decline can be particularly challenging. They may not be aware of the difficulties they are experiencing, and may be resistant to offers of assistance from others. Many caregivers describe their experiences as being a “constantly moving target” with every day bringing new challenges and learning. This free online resource can be accessed when you need the information, at a time that is most convenient for you.
“The Compass Guide offers 12 modules of course content guiding you from initial steps throughout the entire continuum of dementia care. With supporting interviews with more than 27 community stakeholders including persons living with dementia, their family caregivers and health care professionals, to equip you with the knowledge, strategies, and mindset necessary to overcome overwhelm, and bring you peace of mind as you confidently care for your loved one with Dementia.
