Ignite Launched 4th Internship Programme

Ignite Bermuda has launched its fourth Young Adult Entrepreneurial Internship programme thanks to the support of HSBC Bank Bermuda.

A spokesperson said, “The 8-week internship programme supports the development of local young adults’ passions for entrepreneurship through workshops with industry experts and project-based internships within some of Bermuda’s top startups, all Ignite entrepreneurs. After identifying a gap in local internship opportunities for aspiring young entrepreneurs, this programme was created to provide real-world entrepreneurial experience and knowledge without requiring the previous launch of their own businesses.

“The programme is now officially underway after beginning with a full 2-day Orientation, aimed to give them a taste of the Ignite experience and to set the foundation for the following weeks. The interns engaged in topics such as Customer Discovery, Mindset and Behaviours, Value Proposition, Pitching and Persuading, and Business Modeling.

Simone Vaugh, a 2024 intern, reflected, “The Ignite orientation process exceeded my expectations. I was already excited to be a part of this experience. However, the support and guidance I’ve received have only furthered my desire to be an entrepreneur. I look forward to learning more and networking.”

Another 2024 intern, Tea-Tephi Pringle added, “So far Ignite has provided me with a hands-on learning environment, adding to my growth as a creative problem solver and future business leader. The time thus far has been incredibly enriching and motivating whereas I am grateful for the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally in such a positive setting.” Markalah Telemaque, another programme participant mentioned, “I’ve felt like I’ve finally found my place in the entrepreneur world, every time I leave a session, I leave fulfilled.”

“The programme is set to run through August. Over the next 6 weeks, interns will work within a local ‘host’ startup and its lead entrepreneur, while continuing to participate in weekly workshops on key topics to apply during their internship and in their future endeavours.

Kisha Tyrrell, founder of Enzuri Beauty and Wellness, and 2024 Host Entrepreneur added, “Ignite did an exceptional job in pairing us together. When [my intern] and I met for our initial discussion, it was immediately clear that we were a perfect match. I am eager to work with [her] this summer and share my entrepreneurial journey.”
