City Of Hamilton Works On Post-Storm Recovery

August 18, 2024 | 0 Comments

Following the recent storm, the City of Hamilton has conducted thorough assessments and is actively working to restore full city operations by the end of the day.

A spokesperson said, “The City of Hamilton has successfully completed critical assessments around the city in the aftermath of the recent storm. Our teams are now fully mobilized, and we are committed to having the city fully operational by the end of today.

Key Details:

  • Cleanup Operations: Our crews are well-prepared and are currently addressing the necessary tasks, including debris removal, damage repairs, and ensuring public safety. The management team has allocated all required resources to ensure that these efforts are completed efficiently.
  • Safety Advisory: As our teams will be working on the roads, we urge drivers to exercise caution and patience while moving through the city. The safety of our workers and residents is our top priority.
  • Business Continuity: While the city remains open for business, we ask that the public allows the first eight hours of the day for our crews to carry out their work effectively. This will help ensure that all areas are safe and ready for use.
  • Contact for Issues: Should you encounter any challenges or require assistance, please contact Allan Somer, Operations Manager for the Corporation of Hamilton at asomner@cityhall.bm or 501-6783. His team is ready to respond to any concerns.

“The Parks and Engineering crews have made significant progress in the city:

  • City Entrance [Cedar Avenue]: Work is now completed up to the Angle Street junction.
  • Spurling Hill: Streetlights have been restored and corrected.

“Additional ongoing efforts:

  • Reid Street: One crew is actively cleaning debris.
  • Front Street: A second crew is focused on cleaning waste.
  • Water Crews: Crews are clearing storm drains, with all pump stations operational except for the Woodlands Road station, which is down due to a lack of electricity. The North Street station is currently running on a generator.

“We kindly ask for your patience as we work to bring the city back to full functionality. Thank you for your support and understanding during this time.”
