Robert King Responds To Deputy Premier

“We are truly living in interesting and dangerous times, when we have the Deputy Premier, the Hon Walter Roban stating on record that facts do not matter, but feelings do, where it pertains to employment statistics in Bermuda,” OBA MP Robert King said.

Shadow Minister for the Cabinet Robert King said, “We are truly living in interesting and dangerous times, when we have the Deputy Premier, the Hon Walter Roban stating on record that facts do not matter, but feelings do, where it pertains to employment statistics in Bermuda.

“This is offensive to the people of Bermuda—it sounds like he is saying the Government prefers feelings over cold, hard facts.

“What he said about the One Bermuda Alliance is false. We are not against Bermudians in any way, and to imply that we would encourage the displacement of Bermudians in the workplace is abhorrent.

“By him saying the Government understands the peoples’ emotions would suggest its sensitive to their needs. But this simply isn’t true. The PLP Government exploits trauma and emotions to ensure that its voter base remains emotionally charged and ready to react on its behalf.

“Mr Roban asserts that “facts are immaterial” as it relates to governing an island. If a Deputy Premier accepts that this as appropriate, it further proves that the Government preys on the electorate’s emotions in order to cling to power.

“This government is destroying this island brick by brick before our very eyes and it says believe in me, ignore the Government-issued facts and trust your emotions.

“I’ve worked in the criminal justice system for over 30 years, and it is a clearly established fact that no decision based on emotions is a good one and makes us powerless to make and consider what is best for us in the short and long term.

“The same stands for running a country that so desperately needs hope.

“This government continues to stoke the fires of trauma and pain and does nothing to heal the wounds. Why? Because if the people addressed their emotional pain, they might not vote for them.”

  2. PAC MAN says:

    Mr. R King
You are a very big part of our Government.

How can you say ” this Government is destroying this island brick by brick before our very eyes” and it say beleive in me, ignore Government- issued facts and trust your emotions”.

I was born in Somerset Sandys parish, I never heard any thing like that in all my 88 years .
Let me put both feet in the troubled water.

May i ask are you as the government telling us how to think ?

Do you not think that I / we can not deal with the facts and our emotions at the same time ?

May I offer to you sir , this suggestion, if you have issue with another man .

Mr. Walter Roban’s home is here , I am confident that he truly loves this country as much a we do.

Could you not sit down in all diplomacy quietly with Mr. Walter Roban with a tall glass of Sasberella and discuss your concerns.

The way I look at it my friend, is if this country should down the tube as inferred, we will all go down the tube, lock stock and barrel, together ! untill all the Bananas run out .
