Peter Silvester and his Connecticut College men’s soccer teammates scored twice in a 10 minute span to defeat host Western New England 3 – 1 at Suprenant Field.

Connecticut College opened the contest on the front foot, recording the first two shots of the afternoon, but Matt Scoffone had an effort blocked, while Gavin Mpiana missed high. Western New England responded with the next three chances, including the first shot on target, but Silvester made the save.

With just under 20 minutes left in the half, Connecticut College opened the scoring. Marco Perugini played a ball into his brother Christian Perugini, who laid a pass across goal where Scoffone connected and found the back of the net making it 1 – 0. However, just under two minutes later, Western New England found an equalizer. Western New England was awarded a freekick just outside of the box, and on the ensuing kick, Keegan Reim used a deflection off the Connecticut College wall to tie the game in the 28th minute.

Connecticut College had a few chances to regain the lead before the halftime whistle, with the best look coming from Scoffone who had an effort go just wide of the best. However, nothing came about as the game headed to the break tied at one.

Early in the second half, Connecticut College retook the lead, as Marco Perugini went on a solo mission to make it 2 – 1. Perugini won a header at midfield and worked his way through the Western New England defense, finding the far side of the net to put Conn back in front.

Just over nine minutes later, Connecticut College doubled the lead. This time Perugini was the distributor, playing a ball into Scoffone who fired past Braylon Casinghino to put the Camels up 3-1 in the 61st minute. Conn controlled the final 30 minutes, coming away with the 3 – 1 win.

Silvester got the start in goal, making four saves. Scoffone paced the Connecticut College attack with four points on two goals, while Marco Perugini added three points on one goal and one assist, with Christian Perugini adding one assist.
