Taylor Ralph Wins Emmy For NFL Music
Bermudian music director Taylor Ralph has earned a prestigious Sports Emmy for her role in producing a segment for the CBS television broadcast of the Super Bowl this year.
Ms Ralph was recognised for her role in producing a Las Vegas-themed short, featuring Frank Sinatra’s “My Way,” which aired during the NFL showpiece event in February.
It won the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Open/Tease during the Super Bowl coverage, which drew more than 123 million viewers.
Ms Ralph, who works in the music department for CBS Sports, was responsible for securing the rights to the music and footage of Sinatra performing the timeless classic.
“I handled the negotiations with the Frank Sinatra estate, so CBS could get the rights to use the song,” Ms Ralph told Bernews.
“I’ve been at CBS for six years now working on projects – although not on the scale of this. It was very exciting!
“We had about two weeks to get everything wrapped up, getting the song cleared, working with the label, the estate, the publisher and director [Peter Radovich Jr].”
The 45th Annual Sports Emmy Awards was held at the Lincoln Centre in Manhattan, New York, in May.
“I worked with a whole bunch of people, and we had a limited number of tickets,” said Ms Ralph, who studied music business at New York University, in Manhattan. “I watched the awards on streaming!”
Ms Ralph, who obtained her Bermudian citizenship last year, is the daughter of Bermudian Mandy Richardson. Her uncle is Kent Richardson, the well-known local triathlete.
“I’ve visited Bermuda every summer since I was a child,” said Ms Ralph, born in Boston and raised in New Rochelle, New York.
“I remember working for my uncle Kent at his water-skiing business [in the West End].
“I still visit at least twice a year and stay as long as possible! Hopefully, one day I can find a job in Bermuda.”
