Bermuda Pride 2025 To Take Place In July
OUTBermuda announced that the 2025 Bermuda Pride will take place during the first week of July.
A spokesperson said, “OUTBermuda is thrilled to announce that Bermuda Pride 2025, marking the fifth year of celebrating Bermuda’s LGBTQ+ community, will take place during the first week of July. This shift from the traditional August celebration reflects OUTBermuda’s commitment to listening and responding to community feedback.”
Joshua Samuels, Executive Director of OUTBermuda, shared, “After a series of community consultations, we’ve decided to move this year’s Pride celebrations to early July. As a charity dedicated to supporting and uplifting Bermuda’s queer community, it’s essential for us to be responsive to the needs and voices of those we serve.”
The spokesperson said, “The decision to move the event also addresses scheduling challenges with Bermuda’s busy August calendar, which traditionally includes the Eastern Counties Cricket Game, Labour Day weekend festivities, and other long-standing Bermudian traditions. By shifting to early July, Bermuda Pride aims to establish itself as a cornerstone of Bermuda’s summer calendar—an event that celebrates the creativity, resilience, and diversity of the queer community while welcoming people from all walks of life.”
Pride Project Manager Najib Chentouf says “This change reflects our commitment to creating a space that is welcoming, accessible, and uniquely Bermudian. It also allows us to collaborate more effectively with local service providers and resources, ensuring an enjoyable and meaningful experience for everyone involved.”
The spokesperson said, “Bermuda Pride has become a highlight of the year for the LGBTQ+ community and allies, offering a week of diverse events such as panel discussions, family-friendly activities, open mic nights, a gala, and the vibrant Pride Parade through the City of Hamilton. Beyond the celebrations, Pride serves as a protest, a movement, and a call to action—a reminder of the ongoing fight for equality and the power of community.”
A spokesperson emphasized that Pride Week is also a significant opportunity to raise funds for OUTBermuda’s year-round initiatives. These include:
- Supporting initiatives, training, and events aligned with OUTBermuda’s mission.
- Offering an education bursary to LGBTQ+ individuals.
- Facilitating OUTLET, a support group for young people and allies.
- Partnering with Solstice Bermuda to provide free and subsidized one-on-one counseling services.
