Meraviglia Diverts Due To Medical Emergency
The MSC Meraviglia — which was traveling from the US Virgin Islands to New York – diverted to Bermuda to transfer an 84-year-old passenger requiring medical assistance.
A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre [BMOC] spokesperson said, “Monday 20th January 2025 – 6:25pm. Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre was notified by Meyers Ship Agents, that the Maltese registered 171,598 grt passenger ship MSC Meraviglia was diverting to Bermuda with an 84-year-old passenger who required shoreside medical assistance, after suffering from a head injury following a fall in his cabin.
“The cruise ship was on passage from St Johns in the US Virgin Islands, bound for New York, giving an ETA to the Deep Draft Position for Tuesday 21st January at 3pm, the vessel subsequently arrived and transferred the patient and ships medical staff safely to the Pilot/Rescue Boat St David and was subsequently transferred by waiting ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial, the MSC Meraviglia then continued on passage to New York.”
