Madelyn Moore and Thomas Cechini were the top performers at the recent Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association’s [BASA] Short Course Championships.

The championships used the World Aquatics points system, a metric that assigns point values to each event time based on its proximity to the world record.

Swimmers competed in a maximum of seven events, with their cumulative points determining the overall high-point winners.

Moore, representing the Sharks Swim Club, delivered an impressive performance in the women’s 50 metres freestyle.

Her time of 28.26sec in the preliminary round earned her 702 points, the highest individual score of the entire meet.

Cechini, of the Harbour Amateur Swim Club, won the men’s 400, clocking a time of 4:05.13, earning him 649 points, the highest individual score for a male swimmer at the championships.
