Senator Simmons On OBA’s Shadow Cabinet
“As we approach the Throne Speech on March 14, we invite the Opposition to bring forward ideas that serve the people, not just critiques and complaints, but real proposals,” PLP Senator Lindsay Simmons said.
Senator Simmons said, “The One Bermuda Alliance introduced their new Shadow Cabinet and Senate team. In moments like these, it’s important to remember that while we may sit on opposite sides of the aisle, we all serve the same people—the hardworking men and women of Bermuda who want to see their country become fairer and more affordable for all of us.
“The challenges before us are real. Families are feeling the pressure of rising costs. Young people are wondering what their future holds. Seniors are looking for the dignity and security they’ve earned. And the truth is, no one party, or person has a monopoly on good ideas.
“That’s why we sincerely hope that with this new team in place, the OBA will commit to being not just an opposition, but a partner in moving Bermuda into a brighter future for the many, and not just the privileged few.
“Bermuda doesn’t need more political back-and-forth, more negativity, or more division. What we need and what our people expect is for all of us to roll up our sleeves and work together to make our country more affordable, treat our seniors with dignity and create better opportunities for all our children.
“The PLP will continue to focus on solutions that lift people up, investing in education, growing our economy, driving down healthcare costs, and making sure that opportunity isn’t limited to a privileged few but is open to every Bermudian.
“As we approach the Throne Speech on March 14, we invite the Opposition to bring forward ideas that serve the people, not just critiques and complaints, but real proposals. Because at the end of the day, this isn’t about any one party. It’s about the future we all share.”

“Because at the end of the day, this isn’t about any one party”
The goal of the opposition is to become the government. So the government will not accept any policy or ideas that will ultimately benefit the opposition.
An election just completed, Parliament not even convened and the PLP are already pleading for help.
What a joke.
This is the mindset and approach we need to move forward progressively.
The 3 parties pick 3 items they are going to work on and give the public one month to respond to their action plan. If the general feeling of the public is yes , the action plan can start. If it is successful they pick 3 more. If it fails we go back to playing ping pong or give the task to Joe Bloggs. He gets things done.
Who is this lady? She clearly has no idea that no one believes a word anyone associated with the PLP has to say. They’re irrelevant and illegitimate. Spot ya noise lady.
But honestly Ms Simmons, what have you really done as a politician. More of civic advocacy rather than legislative prowess.
My biggest issue is that we have political figures and not politicians running the country and not necessarily very well.
Totally get it …you hope that the opposition can give you ideas that should be implemented …why because you have been void of them for 20+ years …no doubt you need help and Bermuda needs their help. The political election machine you can do well ..but then again its money spent that someone has given you …imagine that …if you had to earn it …may not so much
