Swimming: National Championship Results

The island’s most promising swimmers showcased their talents at the National Swimming Championships at the Aquatics Facility, National Sports Centre, at the weekend.

In the girls’ 13 and over 50 LC metres backstroke A final, Violet Smith touched the wall first in a time of 32.07sec.

Taylor White finished in second in 32.74, while Marleigh Howes secured third, clocking 32.81.

In the boys’ 13 and over 50 LC metres backstroke A final, Brian Desmond emerged victorious, finishing in 29.47.

Logan Jones took second place, just fractions behind in 29.58, and Rory Shepherd claimed third in 30.69.

The girls’ 13 and over 100 LC metres freestyle A final provided another closely contested race.

Marleigh Howes powered to victory in 1:00.18, with Bella Howes second in 1:00.42, and Katherine Wheddon was third in 1:02.28.

In the boys’ 13 and over 100 LC metres freestyle A, Connor Hupman finished first in 53.17, with Sam Williamson second in 53.88, and Logan Jones rounding out the podium in 55.47.
