Chess Association Hosts Tournament
The Bermuda Chess Association hosted its 2025 Championship Tournament at the Bermuda National Library, where Dimitri Gontcharov claimed first place after weeks of competitive play.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Chess Association proudly hosted the Bermuda Chess Championship Tournament each week at the Bermuda National Library beginning on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, welcoming chess enthusiasts from across the island to compete for the prestigious title.
“After a series of intense matches showcasing exceptional skill and strategy, the following players emerged victorious:
- 1st Place: Dimitri Gontcharov
- 2nd Place: Moses Mufandaedza
- 3rd Place: Don Dacres
“The tournament was further distinguished by the presence of Mr. Charles Clarke from the Bermuda Government, a long-time supporter of chess on the island. Mr. Clarke graciously attended the event and had the honour of presenting the awards to the top players. His continued support has played a significant role in the growth and visibility of chess within the Bermuda community.
“The Bermuda Chess Association extends its gratitude to all participants, supporters, Mr. Clarke, and the local community for contributing to the success of this year’s championship.
