Reggae fans of all ages can look forward to “The Ultimate Joyride Under the Stars” at Cedarbridge Academy courtyard, where DJs Jugglin J, DJ I Breeze, and Stone Love’s Rory will deliver a multigenerational dancehall experience.

A spokesperson said, “Reggae lovers young and old are set for a special midsummer treat when three prominent DJs combine talents during an open-air dancehall event at the Cedarbridge Academy courtyard.

“Powered by Bacardi, Carlsberg Elephant Beer, Somersby, D’USSÉ & Red Stripe, the occasion will offer the 11th overall edition of the popular Joyride franchise — the third this year — which has been dubbed ‘The Ultimate Joyride Under the Stars’.

“The event will feature Jason Ford [Jugglin J], Bakari Smith [DJ I Breeze] of King Jyrus and Rory Gillingham of Stone Love Movement.

“Joyride emerged in 2023 due to the post-Covid merger of Ford’s ‘Traffic Blocking’ and Smith’s ‘Need for Ninetyz’, which has amalgamated multiple generations of reggae fans.”

“In order to understand what to expect you have to know what we have done,” explains Ford. “Coming out of Covid we had ‘Traffic Blocking’, which was one of my brands and would take place at Bailey’s Bay Club and you also had DJ I Breeze with ‘Need For Ninetyz’ as his brand.

“There was an age difference between the two, so we brought the two generations together to widen the audience, which has made the venture successful.

“I’m the elder and my fans come from way back when, while his fans are a lot younger.

“What we’re doing with this event is bringing in Rory of Stone Love Movement, which adds another generation from before me and that’s where we get the three generations coming together.”

A spokesperson added, “Smith is equally excited to have the opportunity to perform alongside the legendary selector, who was born in England to Jamaican parents, before moving to Jamaica.

“Few, if any, sound men command more respect in the reggae and dancehall arena than Rory, the long-time anchor of Jamaica’s most celebrated sound system.”

“It’s great to be able to add Rory to the mix and bring in a third generation,” says Smith. “I’m looking forward to performing with Rory, as I’m a big fan of Stone Love just like a lot of people.

“What we can expect are three generations, three different styles for one great night of music.”

“This will be the third event we have put on this year, the first time we have done it outside and the first time we have included a guest selector, so it will be a unique experience.”

A spokesperson added, “For his part Rory is looking forward to participating at the latest edition of Joyride.”

“I am familiar with both Jugglin J and DJ I Breeze and have great respect for both of them,” says Rory. “I love Bermuda, the vibe, everything about the island.

“We will bring the fullness of the Stone Love Movement.”

A spokesperson added, “Part proceeds from this event will be going towards purchasing new football kits for the Cedarbridge Academy girls and boys football teams for the 25/26 season.

“Tickets for ‘The Ultimate Joyride Under the Stars’ can be purchased at: Kit n Cabbodle, Freshmans Boutique, Fish n Tings or online at: www.easyaccess.events.”
