Hamilton Princess defeated BDA Spirits 6-3 in the opening contest.
Hamilton Princess held a 2-1 advantage after the first period, with Riley Latour scoring two goals. Patrick Bousfield recorded the lone goal for the Spirits. The second period saw both teams score once, with Mathew Benson netting for Hamilton Princess and Jeff Loper for BDA Spirits, bringing the score to 3-2.
BDA Spirits tied the match early in the third period on a goal by Mathieu Ingelman. However, Hamilton Princess responded with three consecutive goals to secure the victory. Jean-Michael Tremblay gave Hamilton Princess the lead, Benson added his second, and Latour completed a hat-trick for the final 6-3 score.
Positive Image Dental edges Spine & Sport 10-9 in Shootout
The second game saw Positive Image Dental secure a 10-9 victory over Spine & Sport, requiring a shootout after a 9-9 tie in regulation.
The first period ended with seven goals. Spine & Sport netted four times on two goals from Christopher Merritt and single strikes from Mathieu Desjardins and Kris Abramowski. Ross Rufiange scored a hat-trick for Positive Image Dental, keeping the score close.
The scoring continued in the second period with eleven goals recorded. Merritt added two more goals for Spine & Sport, bringing his personal total to four, while Desjardins, Rob Osborne, and Adrien Faucher also scored.
Positive Image Dental matched the effort, with Rufiange adding three more goals to finish the night with six. Chris Allington, Louis Sujir, and Kyle Harvey each scored once, resulting in a 9-9 tie entering the third period.
The third period was scoreless, sending the match to a shootout. Louis Sujir scored the deciding goal in the shootout, giving Positive Image Dental the 10-9 win.
