Lane Closure For BELCO Trench Works

October 14, 2025 | 0 Comments

The Ministry of Public Works and Environment advises the public that “BELCO trenching works will resume on Middle Road, Southampton, starting Monday, 20 October 2025.”

A Government spokesperson said, “The works will take place between Seymour Farm Road and the Evans Bay substation and are expected to continue through to the end of July 2026. Part of the trench alignment will extend along the Railway Trail, from High Point Lane to Whale Bay Road, beginning in spring 2026.

“Motorists are also reminded that additional embankment wall works continue at Five Star Island and Avocado Lane, and that triple temporary traffic lights are in place along Middle Road from Barnes Corner through to Jews Bay.

“As a result, delays are anticipated, and the public is encouraged to use South Road as an alternative route.

“Traffic controls will be managed by Intelligent Trenching representatives using traffic lights and stop-and-go signs. Working hours are scheduled on weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to approximately 6:00 p.m.

“The Ministry apologises for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the cooperation of the motoring public during this extended period of essential infrastructure work.”
