Pink Route Ferry Service Suspended
[Updated] The Pink Route ferry service is suspended due to mechanical issues.
A Government spokesperson said, “The Department of Marine and Ports Services is advising that, effective immediately, as of Wednesday, 22 October, the Pink route ferry services will be suspended due to mechanical issues until further notice. All of today’s afternoon runs are suspended.
“The Department of Marine & Ports Services apologises for any inconvenience this may cause for commuters. The Department will issue a notice once the service is restored.”
Update Oct 23, 3.50pm: A Government spokesperson said, “The Department of Marine and Ports Services is advising that the Pink Route Ferry service will resume this afternoon, 23 October, with the 3:45 pm service.
“The Department of Marine & Ports Services apologises for any inconvenience caused by the service interruption yesterday to commuters.”

I wonder if the Marine & Ports staff responsible for maintaining ferries were transferred to a brewery, would they be able to organise a drinking night?
Why can’t the Director of Marine and Ports, who is trained as a marine engineer, tell us exactly what the problem is? All we ever get is service suspended for “mechanical issues”. Are they reoccurring ones? New ones? How about a small modicum of transparency? (Modicum – “A small portion of something good such as truth or honesty”….in case the Govt spokesperson doesn’t understand what it means).
“How about a small modicum of transparency?”
How dare you make such a suggestion!
A ferry route that has been suspended countless times since the beginning of the year? Leading to ferry users being repeatedly inconvenienced…
Surely this is one of the most glaring instances of TERRIBLE government performance in 2025. ABSOLUTELY DREADFUL!!!
Some heads need to roll, or at least held accountable. Because the management and operational standards at Marine & Ports are clearly abysmal.
Also, why is it that a ferry user took the lead this morning to get at least one run in for commuters by the “Carolyn”?
Newsflash chair-warmers at Marine & Ports HQ. When things don’t go according to plan, you rely on a contingency plan.
This isn’t rocket science, it’s common sense. And it was what was done in previous years whenever the regular ferries weren’t in operation.
Something has to give because enough is enough.
So about that monthly Public Service Excellence Award that gets announced in the media. The Department of Marine and Ports should be nominated for October 2025.
The work done by this team all year has been incredible. With safe, reliable and 7-days-a-week pink route ferry service that Bermudians and visitors can count on.
Psych!!!!!
