BHS Teachers Launch ‘Quiz Night’ Fundraiser
The BHS Teachers’ Association, a key fundraising body at The Bermuda High School, will kick off its 2025–2026 efforts with Quiz Night on November 21st, aiming to support scholarships and bursaries for students.
A spokesperson said, “At The Bermuda High School, fundraising is at the forefront for the BHS Teachers’ Association.
“Originally established to serve as a medium between faculty and leadership, the Teachers’ Association has grown beyond their original purpose to become one of the biggest fundraisers at BHS. They do this through both internal and external events, dedicating their funds to provide scholarships and bursaries for those in need.”
“I personally think it is so important to allow students to have the best opportunity for their education, and BHS is the best place for that to happen,” commented TA treasurer and event organiser, Paula Harrison, a Secondary Maths teacher.
The spokesperson said, “The group’s 2025-2026 external fundraising efforts begin this month with the ever-popular BHS Quiz Night. The event will take place in the Queen Elizabeth Hall on November 21st, 2025. Catering to an 18-and-over crowd, the event includes a raffle, a dinner option, and a bar. Teams of up to six can register via email to pharrison@bhs.bm.
“During the 2024-2025 year, the TA made a significant contribution of $46,000 to the Bursary and Scholarship fund. This was a result of their tireless work over the past two years.”
Head of School, Carol A. Swainson said, “This demonstrates our faculty’s extraordinary commitment to educating young people. In all my years as a school leader, I have never seen a faculty this dedicated.”
TA Presidents and alumnae, Allison Hillen ‘78 [a Year 5 teacher], and Julie Gunther ‘88 [Head of Secondary Science], added, “Many members of the Teachers’ Association are proud alumni, which makes being part of this special organisation at BHS even more meaningful. Our mission is to raise funds to support as many students as possible, allowing them to benefit from the outstanding education offered at BHS. We achieve this through a variety of fundraising events, including Quiz Night, our Annual Golf Tournament, and teacher Friday Grub Days.”
The group’s annual Golf Tournament is scheduled for June 5th, 2026.
