Karting Championship Race Day #5 Results
Under clear skies and warm Sunday conditions on November 23, the Bermuda Karting Association staged the fifth round of the Bermuda Rubis Energy Karting Championship, delivering a full day of competitive racing across multiple classes.
A spokesperson said, “L206 Class – A strong field of 13 karts took to the track in the L206 division. Heat 1: #91 Stephen Corrado claimed the opening win, followed by #95 Robert Wheatley in second and #84 Owen DeCosta in third. Heat 2: Corrado and DeCosta battled fiercely for the lead, with #84 DeCosta edging ahead at the finish. Heat 3: #84 Owen DeCosta dominated the final heat to secure first place, with #91 Stephen Corrado second and #22 Max Correia third.
“Tag Senior – Heat 1: #24 Blake Horseman held off a strong challenge from #518 Ryan Burgess to take the win, while #84 Nathan DeCosta finished third. Heat 2: #518 Ryan Burgess responded with a victory in the second heat, ahead of #24 Horseman and #34 Jorja Thomas. Heat 3: The final race of the day was a nail-biter, featuring intense battles throughout the field. #84 Owen DeCosta claimed third, with #34 Jorja Thomas in fourth and #159 Jonah Moniz rounding out the top five.
“Tag Junior – #92 Tanner Correia swept the class, followed by # 12 Alondro Albouy in second, #81 Jonathan Linberg and #30 Syah Pedro changing positions in the final heat.
“Cadet – In another clean sweep, #92 Tanner Correia and #112 Jacob Garrett secured first and second place respectively in all three heats.
“KZ Class – With 12 karts on the grid, the KZ class produced some exciting racing, but only ran 2 heats for the day. Heat 1: #18 Ryan Burgess took the win, ahead of #24 Blake Horseman and #3 Ryan Rebello. Heat 2: #18 Ryan Burgess again crossed the line first, followed by #3 Ryan Rebello and #24 Blake Horseman. Further back, a separate battle saw #6 David Selley, #33 Jason Correia and #51 Stephen Corrado secure fourth, fifth and sixth.
“KZ Masters – A three-kart field saw positions traded throughout both heats. Heat 1: #2 William Dunkley claimed victory, followed by #23 Neil Martins and #53 Jason DeCouto. Heat 2: #53 Jason DeCouto stormed back to win the second heat, with #2 William Dunkley finishing second and #23 Neil Martins third.
“Heat 3 of the KZ class will be raced at the beginning of the next race day.”
