People Shaving Heads To Support Cancer Research
The St. Baldrick’s event will be held on March 13 at Docksiders Pub, with people shaving their heads to raise funds and support life-saving childhood cancer research.
A spokesperson said, “For more than two decades, the Bermuda community has shown extraordinary courage, compassion, and commitment to children with cancer. Since 2002, Bermudians have come together to shave their heads, raise funds, and stand in solidarity with families facing childhood cancer.
“That legacy continues on Friday, 13 March 2026, at the St. Baldrick’s 25th Annual Bermuda Event, taking place from 6:00–9:00 p.m. at Docksiders Pub on Front Street.
“This powerful community event invites Bermudians to shave their heads, raise funds, and support life-saving childhood cancer research.
“The Bermuda event is an official St. Baldrick’s Foundation event, part of a global movement dedicated to Conquering Kids’ Cancer. Funds raised help drive research that leads to better treatments, less toxic therapies, and longer, healthier lives for children diagnosed with cancer.”
Local organiser of the Bermuda event, Dan Sullivan said, “For over 20 years, Bermuda has shown what’s possible when a community rallies behind children with cancer, Every head shaved represents hope and every dollar raised helps move research forward for kids and families who urgently need it.”
The spokesperson said, “Each year, more than 400,000 children worldwide are diagnosed with cancer. Despite advances in adult cancer care, childhood cancers remain underfunded and are often treated with therapies never designed specifically for young bodies. Events like St. Baldrick’s are critical to closing that gap.
“Bermuda is also proud to honour St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids, including Bermudian child Eoghan Homan, one of five 2026 St. Baldrick’s Ambassadors, diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma. Honoured Kids are the heart of the St. Baldrick’s mission, reminding communities everywhere why childhood cancer research is so urgent and deeply personal.
“As part of its international partnership model, St. Baldrick’s Foundation grants 10% of all funds raised in Bermuda to Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre to support the SunSmart Programme. SunSmart focuses on skin cancer prevention and education for children and families in Bermuda, reinforcing a simple but powerful truth: sun-protective behaviours learned in childhood significantly reduce the risk of skin cancer in adulthood.
“This approach ensures that while the majority of funds raised support life-saving childhood cancer research, Bermudians are also investing in prevention today to protect the health of future generations.”
“Supporting childhood cancer research through St. Baldrick’s allows Bermudian donors to invest in world-class science with global reach, It ensures children everywhere have access to the very best research and treatment options, while also delivering meaningful local benefit here at home.”
The spokesperson said, “The event is open to the public, and there are many ways to get involved — from shaving your head, to fundraising, to supporting a participant or simply coming out to show your support.
“All registration and fundraising take place on the official St. Baldrick’s event page.”
