Wenda Roberts Wins Silver In Las Vegas
Wenda Roberts won a silver medal at the USA Pickleball Golden Ticket tournament in Las Vegas.
She was competing in the Mixed Doubles 3.5 division for the 65-plus age group alongside American partner David Graves.
Roberts and Graves opened play in pool 2 with a 15–9 victory over Susan and James Moore.
After receiving a bye in the second round, they lost consecutive matches 15–5 to Andrea Mammen and Robert Murallo, and to Margaret Bahnson and Thomas Dean.
The pair secured qualification for the knockout stage with a 15–7 win against Marcia Garcia and James Sandusky.
In the semi-finals, Roberts and Graves defeated Pauline Geraci and Terry McPartland 15–12 to reach the final.
The gold medal match produced a rematch against Mammen and Murallo. Roberts and Graves were beaten in straight games, 11–8, 11–6.
