Retail Sales Decreased 1.4% In September 2025

The Ministry of Economy and Labour reported that September 2025 retail sales fell 1.4%.

A Government spokesperson said, “Today, the Ministry of Economy and Labour released the September 2025 Retail Sales Index publication.

“September’s volume of retail sales index decreased 1.4 per cent compared to last year. In value terms, retail sales increased to an estimated $102.2 million.

“Three of the seven sectors recorded year-over-year volume index decreases in September 2025:

  • The sales volume for Food Stores decreased 4.8 per cent.
  • Liquor Stores’ sales volume decreased 5.6 per cent.
  • The sales volume at Apparel Stores decreased 6.0 per cent.

“The following four sectors had increases in sales volume compared to the previous year:

  • Motor Vehicle Stores’ sales volume rose 2.8 per cent.
  • Service Stations’ sales volume rose 4.0 per cent.
  • The sales volume for Building Material Stores increased 17.9 per cent.
  • In the All Other Store Types sector [comprising stores selling household items, furniture, appliances, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and tourist-related goods], there was a 4.6 per cent increase in sales volume.

“Selected overseas declarations decreased 1.8 per cent compared to September 2024.”
