Mount Saint Agnes Academy celebrated its 136th anniversary with a schoolwide Day of Giving Back, where students, faculty, and staff participated in community service projects across Bermuda.

A spokesperson said, “Mount Saint Agnes Academy [MSA] proudly celebrated its 136th Birthday with a schoolwide day dedicated to Giving Back to the Community. Rooted in MSA’s long-standing tradition of service and compassion, the day brought students, faculty, and staff together in meaningful acts of kindness across the island.

“The morning began with a festive WaveBy Celebration, as students, alumni, parents, and friends of the school gathered to greet the day with smiles, cheers, and birthday spirit. Immediately following, the MSA community joined in a reflective Prayer Service, which included a special presentation from the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, an organization dedicated to funding childhood cancer research. Their message emphasized courage, compassion, and the power of collective action—perfectly aligning with this year’s service-focused theme.

“Throughout the day, students participated in class specific community projects designed to support local organizations and give back in hands-on ways. These projects included:

  • Bermuda Red Cross
Students helped out to reorganize the thrift shop
  • Appreciation for Rescue Workers
Students created heartfelt cards and assembled small gift packages to show gratitude to Bermuda’s rescue workers who serve and protect the community every day.
  • KBB Environmental Talk & Beach Cleanup
In collaboration with Keep Bermuda Beautiful [KBB], students engaged in an educational session on environmental stewardship before heading out to clean a local beach.
  • Car Wash & Goodie Bags for Loaves and Fishes Program
Students organized a charitable car wash, using the funds raised to purchase treats and essential items for clients of the Loaves and Fishes Program.
  • Students to Seniors
Continuing MSA’s tradition of intergenerational connection, students visited seniors in the community, bringing conversation, companionship, and joy.
  • Special visit from Forget Me Not Canine Center
The charity brought two beautiful four-legged friends, Reef and Porky, for the Early Learning Students to meet and pet. The children learned all about the important work this charity does in our community, including how they care for their dogs and how we can help support their mission. The class donated dog supplies and care items, and they also made special cards for the rescue team.

“Across every grade level, the day reflected MSA’s commitment to nurturing empathy, leadership, and social responsibility in all students. As the school marks 136 years of academic excellence and faith-based education, this year’s celebration served as a powerful reminder that service to others remains at the heart of its mission.”
